Not every tired kitchen needs replacing. In a lot of West Cork houses the carcasses are sound and the layout works. It is the doors that have dated, the worktop that has worn, the hinges that sag. Kitchen renovation deals with what is actually wrong and leaves the rest alone. When it is the right answer, it is the one we give.
The honesty comes first. At the free consultation Marius opens the doors, checks the carcasses and runners and looks at how the room is used. If a respray or new doors would give you the kitchen you want, he says so, even though a new kitchen would be more work for us. If the layout is the real problem, he says that too.
Whatever route you take, the work is done to the same standard as a new kitchen. Doors are cut to fit your existing carcasses and painted in the colour you choose. Laminate and timber worktops are cut and fitted by Marius, stone by a trusted stone company we work with. One person, start to finish.

Four ways to renovate without ripping it out.
Most renovations are one of these, or two of them together. Which one suits depends on the kitchen you have.
Kitchen respraying
If the doors are in good shape but the colour has dated, a respray gives you a fresh painted finish on the doors, drawer fronts and end panels you already own. It can be a complete change, from the orange pine of the nineties to a deep navy or a soft grey. Handles can change at the same time.
Replacement doors
When the carcasses are sound but the doors are past saving, new doors and drawer fronts are cut to fit the units you have. You can change the style entirely, from a flat door to a painted shaker, and pick a new colour. Hinges and runners are usually renewed at the same time.
New worktops
A worn worktop drags a whole kitchen down, and replacing it is often the single biggest change you can make. Laminate and timber worktops are cut and fitted by Marius, scribed to your walls. Granite, quartz and other stone worktops are templated and fitted by a trusted stone company we work with.
Kitchen refinishing and partial refits
Sometimes the kitchen is nearly right. The run under the window works but the corner is dead, or you want a larder press where a broom cupboard is. A partial refit keeps the units that earn their place and reworks the rest, in matching doors and paint, so the room reads as one kitchen, not two.

The free consultation is at your home. Marius opens doors, checks carcasses, hinges and runners and asks what bothers you about the kitchen. Then he tells you what actually needs doing. Sometimes that is a respray. Sometimes it is a new kitchen. Either way, a straight answer.
A quote for only what changes
You get an itemised quote in writing that lists what is being resprayed, replaced or added, and nothing else. No bundle, no upsell. A clear timeline comes with it, so you know how long the kitchen will be out of action before you agree to anything.
Cut and painted to match
New doors are cut to fit your existing carcasses, hinge holes and all, and painted in the colour you chose. If some units are staying and some are new, everything is painted together so the colour matches across the room. Worktops are cut to size or templated once the units are set.
Fitted by Marius
The same person who looked at your kitchen fits the new parts. Doors are hung and adjusted, worktops scribed to the wall, handles lined up. He tidies as he goes and does not leave until the kitchen works as well as it looks.

If the carcasses are solid and the layout suits how you cook, probably yes. If the units are swollen or the layout fights you every day, a new kitchen is usually the better spend. Marius will tell you which at the consultation, and he will not push the bigger job.
What does a respray involve?
The doors, drawer fronts and visible panels get a fresh painted finish in the colour you choose. Handles can be swapped at the same time and hinges renewed. The result is a kitchen that looks new from the outside while everything behind the doors stays as it was.
Can new doors go on my old units?
Almost always. New doors and drawer fronts are cut to fit the carcasses you have, so the sizes are matched to your kitchen rather than the other way round. If one carcass is damaged, that unit can be replaced and painted to match the rest.
Can I change the layout a little?
Yes, within reason. A partial refit can add a larder press, remove a dead corner or extend a run, using new units in matching doors and paint. If the changes touch most of the kitchen, it is often better value to plan a new one, and Marius will say so.
How much does a renovation cost?
It depends on what needs doing, so every renovation is quoted on its own after the consultation. The quote is itemised, so you see what a respray, new doors or a new worktop each add, and you decide what to include. A clear timeline comes with it.
