Kitchens for Dunmanway farmhouses, bungalows and newer homes.
Kitchen Hero is based in Skibbereen and works in Dunmanway and the townlands around it. Marius measures the room himself, designs the kitchen, and fits it himself.

Inland West Cork, where a kitchen does real work.
Dunmanway is farming country, and the kitchens around it are working rooms. Out along the boreens there are old farmhouses with big kitchens that were once the centre of the whole farm. In the town there are bungalows, terraces and semis from the seventies and eighties, and newer houses on the approach roads. Each asks for something different.
We are based in Skibbereen and cover Dunmanway and the townlands around it. The first consultation is free and happens at your house. Marius measures the room himself, brings samples, and tells you what would suit. If new doors or a repaint would do the job instead of a full new kitchen, he will say so.

From the boreens to the approach roads.
A rough guide to what tends to suit the houses around Dunmanway.
Farmhouses on the boreens
Old farmhouses have the biggest kitchens in the area and often the most awkward: thick walls, deep sills, a recess where the range sits, a floor that runs a little downhill. A kitchen cut to those measurements uses the whole room, with a larder press or a proper utility next door.
Bungalows and semis in town
The seventies and eighties houses in and around the town tend to have a straightforward kitchen that has simply worn out. Sometimes new doors and worktops are all it needs. Sometimes it is worth opening the room to the dining space and starting the layout again.
Newer houses on the outskirts
The houses on the edge of town usually came with a standard kitchen chosen by someone else. When it goes, most owners want the room planned around how they actually cook, with storage that reaches the ceiling and no filler strips at the ends.
The kitchen first, then the rest of the house.

Call 085 254 4787Do you cover Dunmanway?
Yes. We are based in Skibbereen and work across West Cork, and Dunmanway and the townlands around it are well inside that. Marius comes to you for the consultation and fits the kitchen himself. If you are further out along the road, call and ask.
What happens at the free consultation?
Marius calls to your house and measures the room himself. He brings door and colour samples so you can hold them against the light in your own kitchen. You talk through layout, storage and finish, and he tells you straight what he thinks. A written, itemised quote follows, with a clear timeline.
Our farmhouse kitchen has thick walls and nothing is square. Is that a problem?
No. That is normal for old houses around Dunmanway and across West Cork. Everything is measured and cut to fit the room as it actually is, so the units sit tight to the walls and there are no gaps or filler strips to hide behind.
Would you tell us if we only needed new doors?
Yes. If the carcasses are sound and the layout works, new doors or a repaint can make the kitchen feel new for a lot less than a full replacement. It is less work for us, and we will still say so, because it is the right answer for the room.

Kind words from our customers.

I am delighted with my kitchen. Marius took the small space I had, and rearranged the design of the kitchen to fit the space. It is now a refreshing and contemporary space with tons of storage. His attention to detail is exceptional. 100% recommend.
I needed a press built in where a fridge used to be and it had to look like the rest of the kitchen presses. Marius was so exact and his attention to detail is fantastic. Highly recommend him.
Placed a tricky ‘under-the-stairs’ cupboard with an eye for detail. Great result, we are so happy with it and the loads of storage! Neat on the job, flexible, excellent communication and Marius of ‘Kitchen Hero’ was only happy when the fit and finish were perfect 😃
Marius was a pleasure to deal with, from design ideas all the way up to construction and fitting. He gave us loads of extras, went through all the options and tailored our kitchen to our budget. The quality of his workmanship and his products are out of this world! He lives up to his name as the kitchen hero. Along with all the traditional carpentry/joinery skills he looked after the plumbing and working for the relocation of sinks, switches etc etc. thanks again for making our house a home!
