Fitted kitchens for Schull and the Mizen peninsula.
From Ballydehob out to Goleen and Crookhaven, Kitchen Hero measures, designs and fits kitchens and fitted furniture from our workshop in Skibbereen.

Cottages, converted sheds and glass-fronted new houses.
The Mizen has the widest mix of houses in West Cork. Stone cottages with tiny windows and walls you could sit in. Old farm sheds and barns turned into homes, with the roof structure on show and a kitchen that has to hold its own under it. Village houses in Schull and Ballydehob. And contemporary houses on the headlands with a wall of glass and the kitchen at the centre of one big room.
None of that is a problem for us. It’s the reason we cut everything to fit. Marius comes to your home for a free consultation, measures the room himself, brings samples, and designs a kitchen for that room and no other. Then he fits it. Wardrobes under a sloping ceiling, a utility off the back door and the odd piece of joinery follow the same way.

What suits the houses we see out here.
Stone cottages and small farmhouses
Low ceilings, thick walls, a window in every reveal. The kitchen has to be compact without feeling mean. Shallow units where the room is tight, a larder press instead of a row of wall units, and a painted finish that lifts the light. Every piece is scribed to the wall it meets.
Converted sheds and village houses
A former shed or barn gives you height and a strong roof line, and the kitchen needs enough presence not to look like an afterthought. In the village houses of Schull and Ballydehob it’s the opposite: rooms are modest and the job is to make every inch work. Both start with a good measure.
Contemporary houses and second homes
Newer houses on the headlands tend to be open plan with the kitchen in full view, so the design has to look right from the sofa as well as from the sink. Many are used for part of the year. If you live away, call Marius and talk through how it might work around your visits.

Call 085 254 4787Do you cover Schull and the rest of the Mizen?
Yes. We work in Schull, Ballydehob, Goleen, Crookhaven, Durrus and the townlands between, right out to the end of the peninsula. Our workshop is in Skibbereen.
How does the free consultation work out here?
The same as anywhere. Marius comes to the house, measures the room himself and brings samples so you can see colours in your own light. He designs around what he measured and you get a written, itemised quote with a clear timeline. No obligation.
Can you fit a kitchen into a very old cottage?
Yes. Walls that lean, floors that fall and corners that were never square are normal out here, and everything we fit is cut to the room, not to a catalogue size. Marius has 20 years at the bench, the last seven across West Cork, and this is exactly the kind of room that experience is for.
What about salt air and damp?
It comes up at almost every consultation on the Mizen. We’ll talk you through painted finishes and hardware that stand up to the weather, and how to keep the kitchen aired if the house is empty for stretches. Ask Marius and he’ll tell you straight.

Kind words from our customers.

I am delighted with my kitchen. Marius took the small space I had, and rearranged the design of the kitchen to fit the space. It is now a refreshing and contemporary space with tons of storage. His attention to detail is exceptional. 100% recommend.
I needed a press built in where a fridge used to be and it had to look like the rest of the kitchen presses. Marius was so exact and his attention to detail is fantastic. Highly recommend him.
Placed a tricky ‘under-the-stairs’ cupboard with an eye for detail. Great result, we are so happy with it and the loads of storage! Neat on the job, flexible, excellent communication and Marius of ‘Kitchen Hero’ was only happy when the fit and finish were perfect 😃
Marius was a pleasure to deal with, from design ideas all the way up to construction and fitting. He gave us loads of extras, went through all the options and tailored our kitchen to our budget. The quality of his workmanship and his products are out of this world! He lives up to his name as the kitchen hero. Along with all the traditional carpentry/joinery skills he looked after the plumbing and working for the relocation of sinks, switches etc etc. thanks again for making our house a home!
